Yule Log Recipe Demonstration – Joyofbaking.com

Recipe here: http://www.joyofbaking.com/YuleLog.html Stephanie Jaworski of Joyofbaking.com demonstrates how to make a Yule Log. A Yule Log or Bûche de Noël (BOOSH duh noh-EHL) is a special dessert for a special occasion – Christmas. While there are many recipes for this traditional Christmas dessert, my version uses a deliciously light and moist chocolate sponge cake, that is filled with chocolate whipped cream, rolled into a cylinder, and then frosted with chocolate ganache.

  1. I tried this receipe for Christmas. I got to say it was time consuming; but it is well worth the effort. it was so delicious; I will make again. thank you!!!

  2. This was an amazing recipe! tried it for the first time a few days ago and really no regrets 🙂 thanks a bunch! (one thing i would do better would be to remove the sponge cake faster from the oven, it became a tad too dry!)

  3. Hi I had made this cake and it turned out fine and delicious except for the frosting which has hardened like chocolate afterwards that every time I sliced the cake the hardened frosting fell off the slices. May I know what could be the reason behind this failed frosting?

  4. From Luxembourg: Merry Christmas and a JOYfull New Year, with much, much gratitude for your help for many years! And a special thank-you for being so considerate in giving us measurements in Euro standards, it makes baking easy. Your Christmas log turned out SUPERB, next time I must double your recipy here, for the log went fast through second helpings and even licking the plate… it was hilarious! Hugs and the absolute best to the BESTEST, our beloved Stefanie!

  5. In the middle of making mine right now.  Perfect roll with no cracks.  Made a maple and orange blossom cream for the filling.  It is bomb diggity.  I’ll follow your tips of decorating tomorrow and have a killer Christmas showpiece.  Thanks for the videos.

  6. Looove her delightful videos, thank you again, Mrs. Jaworski for coaching and for having fun together. This recipe takes me back to my Grandmas “production”, we, kids enjoyed being around her (to lick the remaining frosting from the bowl)… This recipe must be in Mrs. Jaworski’s family forever. Thanks again! And Merry, jolly Christmas!!!

  7. DE-LISH! I used unsweetened cocoa powder and I did not get a big color contrast between the filling color & the cake color, unfortunately. Dutch blend cocoa is darker, so I’ll try that next time or just may go with plain white filling. LOVED your video! First time I ever made this and have ALWAYS wanted to. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

  8. Great. Easy and yummy. But what I would suggest is to show in the begging the list of all things needed, with measurements, so then I can later just focus on the process. Anyway. Thanks and have a happy holidays, everyone! 🙂
