  1. Hi, I really want to try & bake some doughnuts/donuts, but I can’ t find a non-nonstick donut pan, or a non-aluminum one. No one out there has made, that I can find, a ceramic, glass, tin, or stainless steel donut pan. I wish someone would. I’ve made a vow to stay away from aluminum, non-stick bakeware. Every baking pan I now own is either made of glass, stainless steel, ceramic, or tin. Along those same lines, I made a vow not to use any artificial ingredients in my baking: ie. artificial colors, flavorings, preservatives, etc. I also vowed against refined sugar. Did you know that white granulated sugar involves a bleaching process that uses animal bones as part of the process? I had already made the vow before I heard that, but that piece of information compounded my decision & resolve. How to get around icing sugar/powdered sugar/confectioner’s sugar in so much of baking’s recipes? I hate to say it, but I feel I’m going backward in time, to pre-all those sugar ingredients. What did people use in their cakes & frostings & icings 4-500 years ago, before the invention of cane & beet sugar? The only sweeteners I’m using now are: raw organic honey (for frostings, icings), organic honey for baked goods, maple syrup, dates (pureed, syruped, soaked, chopped, etc), Stevia, and coconut palm sugar. I was using raw turbinado, organic cane sugar, agave nectar, brown rice syrup, & molasses. I’m also trying to branch out into sweetening cakes with fruit juice, purees, etc. as well as the honey, maple syrup. I still like molasses & brown rice syrup, too. Are your sprinkles all-naturally food colored ones? I’ve found some on amazon. I couldn’t find that kind of sprinkles, pearls, colored sugar anywhere at any store around.

  2. These are less sweet than the vegan donuts I used to make (but maybe that’s a good thing). The glaze is required for it to taste more donut-ey. But overall, I did get some nice compliments 🙂

  3. Tried these out yesterday–they were super cute! My batter was a wee bit dry, so I may try it with more almond milk and brown sugar next time.
Thank you for all your vegan recipes, Gretchen! I’m relearning how to bake now that I’ve gone vegan and your videos really help.

  4. Please Gretchen make a non vegan cake donuts!!
Or can we just replace the coconut oil with any vegetable oil or butter, almond milk with regular milk and of course eggs 🙂
