Stollen Recipe Demonstration – Joyofbaking.com

Recipe here: http://www.joyofbaking.com/breads/Stollen.html Stephanie Jaworski of Joyofbaking.com demonstrates how to make Stollen. Stollen is a buttery rich and dense German Christmas Fruit Cake/Bread. The bread does have religious symbolisms. It’s long oval shape is said to symbolize Baby Jesus wrapped in swaddling clothes. The ridge on the top of the Stollen is said to represent the hump on the back of a camel, which the Wise Men rode, carrying gifts to Baby Jesus. And the bright candied fruit is said to represent the jewels that the Wise Men wore.

  1. I am so sorry that I was so busy before Christmas and I MISSED this wonderful recipe. Next year I will begin making some in November, and freeze until Christmas. Wonderful gifts for my hairdresser, dog groomer, etc! It looked so flavorful. Thank you for all the tutorials you’ve made for us in 2017. I appreciate your hard work and wonderful dedication.

  2. So Americans call stollen “stolen”? I think I’d need to start making this in September for Xmas and I might just lose the will to live before I’d finished. But chapeau Joy such dedication.
