Spaghetti with tomato and basil is the best and easiest italian recipe! You’ll be surprised how simple is to cook this pasta dish, just use fresh ingredients. A delicious and fresh tasting pasta that will make your meal in no time. And with this recipe you’ll see how to cook a simple tomato sauce which you can use in a thousand different dishes adding your favorite pot herbs (basil, oregano, parsley…).
This recipe makes 4 servings
4 tbs extra virgin olive oil
2 tbs red onion – finely sliced
3 cups tomato purée
2 pinch salt
1/2 lb spaghetti pasta
2 or 4 leaves fresh basil
1 – In a hot saucepan pour oil and onion. Let cook until the onions are golden. Add tomato purée and salt. Cook on low for 15 or 20 minutes, until sauce thickens.
2 – While the tomato sauce is cooking, in a big pot bring to boil some salted water and cook “al dente” the spaghetti pasta. When it’s ready drain well the pasta.
3 – Season the pasta with the tomato sauce and serve your spaghetti adding on top some fresh basil leaves.
