  1. You can also bake smelts by coating with olive oil and dusting with breadcrums and then putting into the oven for 15 minutes. A lot healthier and they taste about the same.

  2. Reminds me of the 7 fishes Christmas Eve dinner my late grandmothers made. We had the pan fried smelts, baccala, breaded flounder filets, clams casino, linguine with white clam sauce, stuffed and baked calamari in red sauce, and the 7th, if I rememberr correctly, was either crab stuffed mushrooms or scungilli salad. Those were some awesome memories, God rest their souls.
