  1. One awesome breakfast habit I got came from Japan. It’s kind of a pain in the ass if you don’t have a good rice cooker with a keep warm function (they cost $100-400) but if you do, tamago-kake-gohan is a killer breakfast that keeps you going all morning. Bowl full of hot rice, one egg, half teaspoon of soy sauce. mix it into the rice, the hot rice cooks the egg just enough to make it custard-ey like a soft boiled egg. top with your favorite furi-kake (a seasoning mix you can get on amazon cheaply) and you’ve got a monster of a breakfast food. A little miso soup if you’re adventurous and some coffee or tea. That’s my breakfast go-to for the past few months and I’ve noticed even less hunger before lunch than with oatmeal or oat bran.

  2. Warning: if you don’t eat steel cut oats, do not start. I ate old fashioned oats for years. Now oats and everything I put on them give me an itchy rash on my face and neck, all because I started to eat steel cut oats every day. I can’t eat walnuts, dairy, etc. either. Body reacted to my new breakfast food in a really bad way. Too much gluten! I’ve had to go mostly raw vegan. On the bright side my clothes fit again. All the crazy exercise never helped. It’s the food and drink, especially the added fat and sugars in everything.

  3. Some of us know these sugar, fat, and salt Giants. We can have these on special occasions. Otherwise, when I get a sweet tooth I can go for a sweet fruit instead. If you don’t watch your own eating, you will probably regret it as you get older, and your body starts falling apart. If you don’t believe me, ask your doctor or nutritionist.
    Oh, and if you have kids and feed them any of these products, especially if it’s sugar filled, then You are responsible for them loudly running around and ruining your concentration.
    Then, later in the day, their sugar rush (blood sugar level) will crash, and they can be listless and crabby.
    Realize that sugar, salt and fat are pushed on us by advertising and the “need” for fast food.
